The Prince Of Tennis
The setting of the story is primarily in Tokyo. After finishing his grade school in the USA, his family move back in Japan. The Prince of Tennis, Ryoma Echizen enrolled in Seigaku and joined the tennis club. He played against numerous good and talented players and secured a regular spot on their team after defeating them. In pursuing to their ultimate goal to be the number #1 in All – Japan High School Tennis Tournament, the members of the team make new friends while enjoying, learning and mastering complex techniques.
Episode 1: A Prince Appears!
In this espisode, Ryoma Echizen, 12 years old, won 4 straight junior tournaments in the USA and known as the prodigy appears. Sumire Ryuzaki, former coach of Echizen’s father, head coach of the “Seigaku Tennis club” called him as “The Prince of Tennis”.
Vocabulary Word: Prodigy defined as a person with exceptionally great talent usually discovered at an early age.
He encountered Sasabe and friends in the train talking about the proper way of handling a Western grip that ended up in to a tennis match. Ryoma wasn’t able to play against his match in the 16-category tournament because he late, default or disqualification of the game. He was late for 5 minutes in finding the exact location of the tournament.
Ryoma VS. Sasabe
Ryoma Echizen challenged Sasabe, a tennis player registered under the 16-category. During the first set, Sasabe was going easy in serving the ball but Echizen was so arrogant and annoying brat.
Sasabe was very frustrated and annoyed at the same time threw his racket intentionally to Echizen that caused bleeding in his face. Echizen reacted as nothing happened with his favorite expression “Mada Mada Dane!” which means “No, Not Yet!” The match didn’t ended up there, he used the “twist serve” with his right hand letting the ball bouncing into the face of Sasabe. Ryoma Echizen is actually a left handed player.

The match ended up with a score of 6-0. Game set and won by Ryoma Echizen.
